Historical Development in Ghana

The institution's presence in Ghana began in November 1996, when it commenced operations under the name International Commercial Bank. This marked its initial entry into the Ghanaian financial sector.

A significant change in ownership and identity occurred in 2013. During that year, First Bank of Nigeria Limited completed the acquisition of the West Africa operations of International Commercial Bank, which included the entity in Ghana.

Following the acquisition, the bank underwent a rebranding process. With the approval of the Bank of Ghana, its name was changed to FBNBank Ghana Limited, aligning its identity with that of its new parent company.
